Strange and Mysterious Plant

This plant was bought from Asda about 10 years ago and stuck in the back garden. It grew into a low woody plant - a shrub I guess is the term - and since then it has just sort of sat there - nice foliage, but nothing else. Then suddenly at the end of March this year, this mass of flowers appeared. Green at first then they turned white with orangy bits. We're intrigued - can anyone please identify it?
