Hymn book in possession of Elizabeth Shaw
(nee Crawford) with the following on a printed label in the front: "Presented to Mr.Robert Lumsdon by the trustees of the Wesleyan Church at
Chopwell, in the Shotley Bridge and Consett circuit, on the occasion of laying the foundation stones of the new church June 19th 1907." Added below in manuscript, 'opened May 6th 1908'. ( We presume that Robert himself added this.)
Robert's bust of John Wesley came to be at cousin Jenny's at Wheatley Hill.
Robert died of Senile Decay at 8 Emily Street, Wheatley Hill - his son, Edward Henderson Lumsdon, was present at the death (this was presumably his home).
Cause of death: "Senile Decay - Certified by Arthur R. Steel L.R.C.P." Informant: "E.H. Lumsdon - Son - Present at the death - 8 Emily Street Wheatley Hill".
